Faith in Action: Becoming a Living Testament to God’s Love Through Service

As Christians, we are called to live lives that reflect the love and grace of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Too often, we hear faith spoken of as if it is simply a set of beliefs we hold in our hearts or a confession we make with our lips. But Scripture reminds us that true faith is more than that — it is a living, breathing force that compels us into action.

James 2:17 tells us plainly: “Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” This verse challenges us deeply. It tells us that faith is not a passive experience. It is not enough to say we believe; we must live out that belief. Our faith must be visible in how we love, serve, and care for others — and for God’s creation.

Jesus Himself sets this standard. In Matthew 25:35–40, He says:

“For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.”

Then He goes on to say, “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.” Our actions toward others are a reflection of our love for Christ.

In the very beginning, God entrusted us with a sacred duty. Genesis 2:15 tells us: “Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.” Before there were temples or churches, before there were sermons or choirs, there was a garden — and humanity was called to tend it. This was our first divine assignment: to be stewards of God’s creation.

Today, the call remains the same. Our modern world groans under the weight of pollution, neglect, and environmental destruction. As Christians, we cannot ignore this. Our faith demands that we take action to care for the Earth, God’s masterpiece. By doing so, we honor Him and fulfill our original purpose.

Faith without works is not only dead; it is incomplete. We are the hands and feet of Christ in this world, and each act of service is a testimony to His love. When we engage in acts of compassion and environmental stewardship, we become living sermons, preaching without words and drawing others closer to God through our example.

That is why I invite you to join us with the EcoServants Project. This ministry is dedicated to restoring and caring for God’s creation, organizing cleanups, habitat restorations, and community gardening efforts. It is a way to put your faith into motion, to serve alongside others who are committed to healing the Earth as God commanded.

If you feel called to live out your faith more fully, I encourage you to sign up today: https://ecoservantsproject.org/volunteer-intake/. Together, we can reclaim our role as faithful stewards, protecting and nurturing the world God so lovingly gave us.

Let us be Christians who are known not just by our words, but by our works — works that give glory to God and bring light to His creation.

May God bless you and empower you to be His hands in this world.

In Christ’s love and service,
Pastor Joslyn
