An EcoServants® Story of Compassion, Community, and Creation Care
“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” – Galatians 6:2
In the same sacred valley where rivers sang psalms and sunbeams painted stained-glass patterns through the trees, a gentle breeze stirred the leaves, whispering of a new season.
Eli—once known as Little EcoSprout—had grown into EcoServant, a towering figure rooted in faith and crowned with wisdom. But this is not his story alone.
One crisp morning, as dew clung like diamonds to the forest floor, Eli discovered a withering vine curled beneath the shade of a crumbling fence. Her name was Mira. Her leaves drooped with exhaustion, and her voice was barely a whisper. She had come from beyond the valley—an urban garden overwhelmed by smoke, soot, and silence. No bees to pollinate. No clean water to drink. No hands to help.
Eli gently cupped her wilting tendrils. “Why did you come here, Mira?”
She looked up with weary eyes. “I heard this was a place where things grow… where people still care.”
Eli knelt beside her. “You’ve come to the right place.”
And he wasn’t alone.
From the canopy above, Solas the Oak rustled his leaves. “We are one body,” he said, echoing 1 Corinthians 12: “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it.” The forest echoed in agreement.
That day, Eli rallied the EcoSprouts. Young shoots and seasoned saplings alike gathered around Mira. Some fetched water from the sacred spring. Others cleared away the trash tangled at her roots. A few planted sunflowers nearby to invite the bees. And as they worked, they prayed—not just with their words, but with their actions.
In time, Mira began to heal.
She grew strong again, her vines dancing in the wind, bearing fruit that fed both the body and the spirit. And she, in turn, began to serve—tending to newcomers who arrived in the valley, weary from the world outside. Her suffering had grown into compassion. Her wounds became wisdom.
Eli watched with joy. “To care for the Earth,” he said, “is to care for those who dwell upon it. Creation is not just soil and seed—it is neighbor and need.”
From that day on, the EcoServants made it their mission to seek out the forgotten corners of the land—polluted parks, neglected gardens, and broken hearts. They planted trees and hope. They taught composting and kindness. They collected rainwater and shared laughter. They remembered the words of Jesus: “Whatever you did for one of the least of these… you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40)
And in every act of service—whether pulling plastic from a stream or comforting a lonely sapling—they lived the Gospel.
So the valley grew not just greener, but kinder.
And whenever someone asked where this change began, they would tell the story of Mira—the vine who found healing, and helped others grow.
