Dear EcoServants Volunteers,
We want to inform you of an important change to our Adopt-A-Highway program. After much consideration, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue cleanup efforts at our location on Second St and Interstate 8 in El Cajon, CA.
This decision was not made lightly but is necessary to ensure the safety of our volunteers. Unfortunately, we have experienced multiple incidents in this area involving homeless individuals who are intoxicated or behaving violently toward our volunteers. Your safety is our top priority, and we cannot risk putting our valued volunteers in harm’s way.
We are deeply grateful for your continued dedication to keeping our community clean and vibrant. While we are stepping away from this specific location, there are still many ways to stay involved! We are actively continuing our efforts at other locations, including our highway site on Riverford Rd in Lakeside, CA.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together to protect both the environment and each other. If you’d like to sign up for a cleanup or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
With gratitude,
The EcoServants Project Team
