What It Means to Be a Servant and a Steward

June 20, 2025 • Pastor Joslyn • General Discussion

To be a servant is not to be lesser—it is to lead through compassion, humility, and action. A true servant puts the needs of others, the community, and the planet before personal gain. This path is not about recognition, but about responsibility. It’s about asking, “How can I help? Who can I lift up today?” and then taking real steps to make a difference.

To be a steward is to be entrusted with something sacred—whether it’s the care of a garden, a coastline, a child, or a vision for a better future. A steward does not claim ownership but tends, protects, and improves what has been placed in their care. Stewardship is the quiet promise to leave things better than we found them.

When we embody both roles, we discover something profound:

A steward, as described in 1 Peter 4:10 (NKJV), is someone who recognizes that every gift they’ve received is not for personal gain, but to be used in service to others—“As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”

✨ The reward is not in the praise—it’s in the purpose.
✨ The joy is not in the spotlight—it’s in the soil, the sweat, and the shared smiles.
✨ The success is not in the paycheck—it’s in the peace of knowing we showed up, we served, and we stewarded well.

Whether you’re planting trees, organizing cleanups, mentoring youth, or simply choosing kindness in a difficult moment—you are part of something greater. And in that, there is deep, lasting reward.

At EcoServants®, we believe that service and stewardship are the cornerstones of a better world. When we take care of each other and the Earth, we unlock our highest potential—not just as individuals, but as a global community.

🫱🏽‍🫲🏿 Serve with love. Steward with integrity. Reap the reward of a life lived with purpose.
